On behalf of the Gladewater ISD Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure to welcome Bear Nation to the 2022-2023 school year!  We’re proud that you are part of a district that is student centered and where we are achieving excellence together.

The resilience of our students, teachers, staff and entire community was on full display during the past school year. Together, we successfully ensured the education of our students and the safety of our students and employees during a global pandemic. Though this battle is not over, we have proven that, working together, we can win and come out on the other side better!

Growing, coming out better, will be a major focus for ALL BEARS this year! This year, a special emphasis will be placed on goal setting, progress monitoring and celebration of goal attainment. We believe that much can be accomplished, by students and adults alike, when this process is implemented with fidelity. Celebration days have already been set aside to recognize and reward students who display academic and character growth as well as growth in other areas specified by his/her school. And, though this will be a major area of focus, GISD will continue to focus on ensuring the safety of our students and employees. Practices and protocols that align with the most current state and local guidance on the COVID pandemic will be implemented to maximize safety for everyone.

Our partnerships with the home will be critical in making this year successful. We encourage parents to actively participate in their child's goal setting, monitoring, and celebration process. We also encourage parents to attend and actively participate in parent-student-teacher conferences. Parental support of the implementation of our safety practices, procedures and protocols is also both necessary and appreciated.

Over 1800 pre-school - 12th grade students are expected to return to our buildings on Wednesday, August 11th ready to learn, grow, and become better Bears!  GISD is working to make this the best school year ever!

Thank you for your continued support!  GISD - Achieving Excellence Together!

    Go Bears!
