District Nurse

  • Hi, my name is Marissa Blanco and I am the new district nurse at GISD. I have been a Gladewater native my entire life. I am married to my high school sweetheart and, together, we have the sweetest little boy. I graduated from Gladewater High School, and went on to pursue my nursing career, initially through Kilgore College. As I worked towards advancing my nursing degree, I worked in pediatric home health, where I discovered my passion for the youth. In the fall of 2021, I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from UT Tyler. I am excited to take on this new role working with all of the GISD staff. As the new Head District Nurse, I promise to always put the children and community of Gladewater at the forefront of my work. Go Bears!

  • MISSION STATEMENT

The Health Services of Gladewater ISD, gladly accepts the responsibility of caring for your sons and daughters while here at school. Our goal is to maintain a healthy student through the education and partnership of parents, teachers and the students themselves. Our role involves attending to the immediate medical needs of each student and a balance of preventative care through proper immunizations, various screenings and an open door in which the students may seek counsel on various health related matters. On occasion, we are able to go into the classrooms and interact with the students, sharing information and gaining insight from their perspective. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your child. Please feel free to contact your school nurse if you have questions or concerns.
