Mr. Sedric G. Clark is a native of DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. He was reared by his mother and grandmother, both of whom stressed to him the importance of a good education. Mr. Clark attended school at All Saints Elementary and graduated as valedictorian from Pelican High School in 1990. He received an academic scholarship to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English and Secondary Mathematics Education (’94). He received the Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Northwestern State University (’96) and has taken other advanced coursework at LSU-S and Texas A&M Commerce. Mr. Clark is currently pursuing the Doctor of Education degree at Louisiana Tech University.
Mr. Clark began his career as an English I and Algebra I teacher at North DeSoto High School in Stonewall, LA in the fall of 1994. He later served as Assistant Principal at his alma mater Pelican All Saints High, Pelican, LA (’96-’99), Captain Shreve High, Shreveport, LA (’99-’03), and Baton Rouge Magnet High, Baton Rouge, LA (’03-’04). Mr. Clark served as Principal of Foster Middle School in Longview, TX from July 2004 until June 2010. Most recently, he served as Principal of Mansfield High School in Mansfield, LA from July 2010 - May of 2017. Mr. Clark was named the 2016 DeSoto Parish Principal of the Year and the 2017 Louisiana Principal of the year.
In May of 2017, Mr. Clark was appointed Superintendent of Schools for Gladewater ISD. He believes in the “village” approach to education and that the teacher is the most important person to a student’s educational success. He also believes that both academic excellence and excellence in character should be the goals of education. Mr. Clark strives to be a positive influence in the lives of the people with whom he comes in contact.
Mr. Clark’s educational philosophy is: “All students can learn. As superintendent, it is my responsibility to help build environments in which that learning can take place.” He is married to the love of his life, Katonya.
