Student Learning and Student Services
Dr. Jimmy C. Lightfoot, Assistant Superintendent
An important part of our mission at Gladewater ISD is to teach a thoughtfully developed curriculum that equips students for success in school and in life. We strive to provide students with authentic learning experiences and knowledge, and not just test-taking skills. Our GISD teachers work together as a professional learning community, learning together and designing lessons that keep students challenged and enthused. Our common goal for curriculum and instruction is to ensure that all students are equipped to go wherever they want to go and do whatever in life they want to do.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” - W.B. Yeats
“If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” - John Dewey
“Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of true education.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
