Teacher Incentive Allotment

As of June 2019, the 86th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 3 (HB3) which was signed into law by Governor Abbott. This established the optional Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program. The two goals of this program are to: provide incentive pay to highly effective teachers, and to attract and retain effective teachers especially in rural and high-poverty level schools.

Gladewater ISD has submitted both its Letter of Intent and application to participate in the Teacher Incentive Allotment. As part of the application, Gladewater ISD has created a classification system. District and community stakeholders actively participated in the process.

Once the Texas Education Agency approves Gladewater ISD’s application, GISD will begin the 2021-2022 school year collecting data for designation of Recognized, Exemplary, and Master teachers. Please see the GISD TIA Draft below for more details about the plan.
