Greetings, Bear Parents and Students!
As we await word from the TEA on exactly what school will look like in the fall, GISD is pleased to offer Bear Summer Learning online for all GISD students who have just completed grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.
These lessons and activities are built around essential Reading and Math skills, concepts, and standards that are critical for students as they move to the next grade. We believe this is a great lead-in to a new school year and a great way for students to practice at their own pace and be ready for their new classes when school starts in August.
The lessons and activities are self-paced. Students will be able to check their own work and progress to the next lesson or activity when they are ready. Plus, there is no work to turn in - the entire system is based on review and practice. Teachers will not be interacting with students during Summer Learning, and students may go over a single lesson or activity as many times as they need to feel comfortable and successful.
The Summer Learning lessons and activities are available through Google Classroom. Students simply need to access Google Classroom and enter the Reading or Math passcode (below) for the grade they’ve just completed.
If you need help learning how to access Google Classroom, please see the step-by-step instructions below, just beneath the list of passcodes.
We encourage all students who have just completed Kindergarten through 8th grade to take a few minutes each week to work through all of these lessons so that everyone will be Bear Strong and ready for school in August!
