Jon Rowe became aware of a classroom at Broadway Elementary School that needed refreshments for their Christmas party. He knew the students wanted a certain type of cake so he went home and baked the cake himself. The students never knew who provided their refreshments but certainly enjoyed a great party. Mr. Rowe went above
and beyond the expectations of a GISD Board Member. He leads by example and is an asset to GISD.
Blake Newman organized the writing camp recently held at Weldon Intermediate School. She also planned a mini camp for those students participating in UIL academic events. Blake had done a great job of providing the students with the necessary extra activities to help them be motivated for STAAR testing and the UIL meet.
Debra Pierce helped provide a smooth transition to the new lunch schedule that started at the beginning of Semester Two at Gladewater Middle School. The cafeteria also received a proficient rating after a recent audit from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Lori Aldredge and Misty Mauldin have dedicated countless hours to build a sense of community and camaraderie within Gladewater High School. They have made shirts; bandanas; signs; decorated windows and doors; and many other little things to help unite the staff. The unity and excitement has trickled down to the students!
Before the holidays, Gerone Holmes brought his smoker to work and cooked ribs at his own expense for all the auxiliary staff. He is always willing to help cover field trips, deliver or pick up buses to take for repair, and drives extra bus routes when needed. Gerone is a team player.
