Melanie Pate helped make “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” a success at Broadway Elementary School. She bought books for the library, paid for an advertisement in the Gladewater Mirror and printed flyers to promote the event, sought and collected donations for lemonade, organized a poster contest, and set up a school-wide video conference with 12 other schools. Melanie still found time to make lemon brownies for the teachers to kick off the event!
Susan Hughes spent her own time and money to help a student with a project at Weldon Intermediate School. She went on her lunchtime and bought a t-shirt for a student to match those of others in the class. This act of kindness enabled the student to make a tie-dyed shirt with classmates.
Angela Nelson took the initiative to organize the “first” annual science fair for 8th graders at Gladewater Middle School. Students were provided the opportunity to select a topic of their choosing and present their findings for all to enjoy. Congratulations to Ms. Nelson and all of the students for a job well done.
Jermaine and NeKeshia Lewis have worked tirelessly at Gladewater High School to prepare the special needs students for the state Special Olympics. They worked after hours with the students, sold t-shirts, transported, and chaperoned the students to all events. This couple helped these students make memories that will last a lifetime.
